Our client is a global natural resources and industrial operations company with complex mining, metallurgical, and infrastructure assets. Its engineering teams support large-scale capital projects, operational improvements, and technical programs across process facilities and field sites. The New Orleans office is located in the Lower Garden District and follows a hybrid schedule, with employees collaborating in person for meetings, training, and project work while also supporting virtual teamwork.

What You Will Do

In this role, you will serve as a senior technical leader for civil and structural engineering work supporting complex industrial and capital projects. You will guide engineering strategy, review and develop technical deliverables, solve complex design challenges, and provide subject matter expertise across multidisciplinary teams. You will interpret engineering theory and practical constraints for senior stakeholders, recommend sound technical solutions, and help align design decisions with safety, schedule, budget, constructability, and long-term operational goals. You will also mentor engineers, promote knowledge transfer, evaluate opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement, and partner with project and site teams to ensure technical standards are met.

Required Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline and 10 years of related engineering experience

OR

· Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline and 8 years of related engineering experience

OR

· PhD in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline and 6 years of related engineering experience

  • Advanced knowledge of engineering principles and practices
  • Strong analytical skills to research and draw valid conclusions
  • Awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences

· Expert knowledge of engineering principles and practices, including civil and structural engineering design standards

· Expertise developing civil and structural deliverables, including 3D models, steel and concrete drawings, connection details, calculations, Bills of Material, and Engineering Work Packages

· Experience developing and contributing to scoping documents, P6 schedules, budgets, staffing plans, and estimates

· Expertise using 3D structural analysis software, interpreting results, and developing design recommendations

· Expertise in structural design for high-seismic zones

· Strong research, analytical, verbal, and written communication skills, including the ability to adapt communication style for technical and non-technical audiences

· Experience working in a capital project design office

· Experience with mining, metallurgical, or other heavy industrial process facilities

· Advanced degree and/or Professional Engineer certification
